Update From the GOBHI Leadership
Hello all,
The inaugural Eastern Oregon Peer Conference had over 140 peer attendees. Josh Lair, Director of Community Development with Ideal Option was the keynote speaker. Josh was able to share his journey from the challenges of youth to a leader in recovery advocacy to illustrate the transformative power of resilience, faith, and education. Participants benefited from professional development opportunities, social connections with like-minded individuals, and the chance to develop and enhance their skills. The diverse perspectives shared at the conference will foster greater understanding and support for the inclusion of peer support specialists across various organizations in Eastern Oregon.
EOCCO completed its two day annual review by the Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG). HSAG is the contracted agency for external quality reviews required by OHA. EOCCO will receive their report in November.
Ann continues to be involved in the HB 4092 work to help reduce administrative burden on the BH providers across the state. This group will submit a legislative concept for the 2025 session. The group is currently reviewing ORS 414 and ORS 430 to determine overlap and potential system redesign and role clarification.
Eastern Oregon Behavioral Health Careers Website
On September 12, GOBHI launched the rebranding of the Eastern Oregon Behavioral Health Careers website. The new branding includes a new logo, testimonials, photos, videos and job postings from CMHPs and other community partners who are part of EOCCO. This is great site to help promote your places of business and the job opportunities you have available. Please encourage your HR staff to reach out to GOBHI’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Julie Leutschaft at jleutschaft@gobhi.org to post career opportunities. This website is part of our overall workforce development strategy to promote behavioral health jobs in Eastern Oregon. Visit BHCareers.org to see the site.
GOBHI Endowment
In 2022, GOBHI’s Board of Directors approved the creation of an endowment fund to support workforce development initiatives in Eastern Oregon. This year, the Endowment Committee has approved two $10,000 scholarships for Treasure Valley Community College and Blue Mountain Community College for the 2025/2026 academic year. This is in addition to the $100,000 scholarships GOBHI gave to Eastern Oregon University to support bachelor’s level scholarships and EOCCO’s $300,000 to support master’s level mental health counseling scholarships. GOBHI and EOCCO want to support educational opportunities as part of our overarching workforce development campaign.
