Out of Area Services
We do not cover services provided outside of our service
area except in an emergency or when we authorize it. If you need care right
away when out of our service area, call your local GOBHI Provider at either
the day telephone or the after hours telephone listed on Page 13-15 of this
handbook. Ask to speak with a crisis worker at your local GOBHI Provider.
Someone is at this phone number 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and will help
you solve your urgent need or will arrange for you to receive care where
you are located.
If you forget your GOBHI Provider’s phone number, contact the nearest local
mental health program. Tell them that GOBHI covers your mental health
services or show your Medical Care Identification Form. Ask them to
call us right away about your care.
As a last resort, you may go to the nearest hospital emergency room. Do not use the emergency room for non-emergency care. We provide non-emergency
services. If possible, wait until you return to our service area to receive
care.
We will pay for emergency mental health screenings, but you may have to pay
for emergency services. Call your local GOBHI Provider or your medical health
plan before going to any emergency room. If you cannot make these calls before
going to an emergency room, make these calls as soon as possible.
